Jeffrey Tambor was born as the son of Eileen and Barney Tambor. While his father was a flooring contractor, his mother was a housewife. He was raised in a Conservative Jewish family that had Hungarian roots. Tambor attended the San Francisco State University where he studied acting and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree. He later went on to attend the Wayne State University, from where he received his Master’s degree.

65 year-old Tambor has married twice. His first marriage was to Kathryn Mitchell in 1991. However, the marriage lasted only about eight years, and the couple divorced in 1999. In 2001, Tambor married Kasia Ostlun. Tambor is the father of three children. His eldest is a daughter named Molly Tambor, who was born in 1975 and has recently received a degree from the New York University.

In December 2004, Tambor and Kasia welcomed their first child, a baby boy whom they named Gabriel Kasper. Exactly two years later, the couple welcomed their second child, a baby girl whom they christened as Eve Julia. Recently Tambor has made it known that his wife is pregnant for a third time. He also announced that they are expecting twins which are due to arrive sometime in October 2009.

Tambor started his acting career by working on stage for the repertory theater. He later moved to Broadway, making his debut with the comedy play Sly Fox. Later, he appeared in various other plays including Measure For Measure and Glengarry Glen Ross.

Tambor started his television career in the mid-70’s with his appearance in episodic TV. He portrayed varying characters in numerous TV shows which include, The Ropers, 9 to 5, Mr. Sunshine, Hill Street Blues, Max Headroom, American Dreamer, The Larry Sanders Show, That Was Then, Arrested Development, Twenty Good Years, WordGirl, and Batman: The Brave and the Bold, to name just a few.

Besides earning a name for himself amongst the audiences of the small screen, Tambor also reached the heights of popularity through his wonderful performances in different movies. His most prominent movies include, Saturday the 14th, Desert Hearts, Crossing the Bridge, My Teacher’s Wife, Dr. Dolittle, Girl, Interrupted, Malibu’s Most Wanted, Hellboy, The Chubbchubbs Save Xmas, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, The Hangover and The Invention of Lying, etc. His upcoming movies include, Rogue’s Gallery and The Mad Cow, which are currently under the process of post-production, Paul, which is currently being filmed and the recently announced movie Arrested Development.

In 2004, Tambor won the Golden Satellite Award under the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Comedy or Musical, for his work in Arrested Development. In addition, he has also been nominated for one each of Blockbuster Entertainment Awards, Daytime Emmy Awards and Television Critics Association Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and six Emmy Awards.

Role In Arrested Development

In Arrested Development, David plays the role of George Oscar Bluth, Sr. is the patriarch of the Bluth family. He is the husband of Lucille Bluth and his grandchildren prefer to call him Pop-Pop. He is the founder of the Bluth Company and for many years was its CEO. However, even after his imprisonment by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, he tries to exert his control over the company. During the course of the show, he also ran away to Mexico once and later faked his death over there, only to return to America to remain in hiding in the in the attic of the Bluth model home. Through the run of the series, George became religiously awake twice, becoming a Jewish once and turning into a devout Christian the second time.
